This 3,800 square foot renovation and addition took a single story bungalow and transformed it into West Coast architectural gem that takes on the expression of an transparent shelter, drawing you into the landscape and toward the views overlooking the ocean from the banks of Vancouver Island. The entire home was opened to the view and renovated into a strong cedar post and beam expression of West Coast architecture. Architectural elements such as pealed cedar posts, timber look-outs, concrete kitchen counters, showers of local beach stone and carved cedar doors tie the house to the landscape giving the impression that it grew naturally from the soil. Large expanses of glass and skylights bring in natural light and tie the house to the changing natural panorama.
